About STUART BOHEMIA
Creating Period Furniture for an International Market
Our work combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. We also offer our CNC manufacturing services separately.
"Carefully selected wood is the backbone of our work; we source it responsibly from sustainably managed forests. This type of high-quality lumber is remarkable for its exceptional appearance and singular lifespan."
Jaroslav BlehaWe manufacture a wide range of bespoke furnishings and woodwork – modern, historical, and even sculptural.
All types of freestanding or custom installed furniture, as well as architectural joinery are within our skill set. Our production method combines modern technology with traditional woodworking and craftsmanship. We work closely with clients and architects to ensure every detail is exactly right.
Our focus is on crafting furniture from high-quality oak.
We source our logs ourselves and only use certified suppliers. All our wood comes from sustainably managed forests carrying FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification, which guarantees responsible logging practices that respect both the environment and the rights of local communities. We have our boards custom-cut to the required thicknesses from these carefully selected logs. After seasoning and drying, we personally select and grade every piece. This top-grade timber, with its exceptional appearance and longevity, forms the backbone of our work. We take a similar approach with our veneer suppliers — personally selecting veneer bundles and carefully checking the final layout to achieve visual continuity and the desired pattern.
Surface treatment is a highly individualized aspect of the woodworking craft.
We respect this and offer a wide range of both traditional and modern finishes, including distressing techniques. We work with modern synthetic and water-based paints and varnishes, as well as centuries-old methods using wax, shellac, and oil. We also have experience with various modern, natural, and environmentally friendly products.
We operate a 5-axis CNC cutting machine with TopSolid software.
This allows us to model and program everything from Gothic architectural tracery to free-form sculptural shapes. These pieces are integrated in to the final project as needed and undergo hand finishing. CNC technology also reduces the time required for hand carving by handling the rough work at the start of each project. Our CNC machine can be used for single pieces, complex structures, or even series production.
Our production facilities
Our Workshop in Dřenice

Our workshop is located in the village of Dřenice, halfway between Chrudim and Pardubice and only one hour from Prague. The workshop reconstruction, completed in 2013, has given us 950 m² of production space. To maintain the highest quality, each area of our facility is dedicated to a specific stage of production — including a handworking and carving shop, a modern machine shop, a finishing department, employee facilities, and a heated lumber storage area.
History
Our story began in 2004 with two carpenters sharing a small workshop. In 2007, we began a long-term collaboration with a respected British firm specializing in high-quality Medieval and Renaissance reproductions. Since then, our company has grown steadily. We acquired a neglected dairy barn in 2010 and transformed it into 950m2 of modern production space, completing the renovation in 2013. We currently have 12 employees plus a community of experienced external partners. Our work has been delivered to clients in the UK, Norway, the USA, and across the European Union. We have extensive experience working with internationally recognized designers, architects, and interior studios. We thrive on projects that challenge conventional solutions and some of our most successful projects have been those that have pushed us beyond our previous capabilities. We take pride in offering our clients a distinctive brand of woodworking – a seamless combination of modern technology and traditional handcraft.
